"Music doesn’t lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music"
"Music is a necessity. After food, air, water, and warmth, music is the next necessity "
"...if you want music to be your livelihood, then play, play, play and play! And eventually, you’ll get to where you want to be"
Eddie Van Halen
“Notes and chords have become my second language and, more often than not, that vocabulary expresses what I feel when language fails me.”
The only thing that's holding you back, is the way you're thinking
“I believe every guitar player inherently has something unique about their playing. They just have to identify what makes them different and develop it.”
Unlock your inner rock star!
"Learning to play the Guitar and guitar lessons themselves should be fun, engaging and something that you are really excited to do. All too often guitar students learning to play turn up demotivated from previous guitar lessons as all they are learning are scales and music theory. Eddie Van Halen didn't start playing the guitar by learning music theory - he cranked up his guitar and amp and started making noise! I have been teaching Guitar Lessons in Milton Keynes for a long time and take pride in the fact that the most common word to pop up from our guitar students is 'fun'!

MEET THE GUITAR TEACHER!
Mark is our Principle Tutor here at MKGS. He is 44 years old and lives in Milton Keynes with his wife, their 3 young children and their Labrador Dexter! He has been playing the Guitar for around 30 years and is self taught in all styles from Folk to Hard Metal. With a natural ear for music, Mark was able to very quickly start playing along with his rock influences at the time and he believes that this is what allowed him to stick with the Guitar for so long.
"When my parents bought me my first Guitar all those years ago, I remember them also giving me this book to learn from that talked about music theory and the importance of scales; it was supposed to be a beginners guitar course. At the time, I remember thinking that all I really wanted to do was play the intro to Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns and Roses! So, I put the books down, put the Album in the CD Player and just sat and worked it out on the fretboard. Don't get me wrong, it took a long time and a lot of frustration but I got there, and from that moment onwards i was hooked'
Mark believes that the way to learn is to play - only after the guitar becomes a fun part of your life and something that you really enjoy doing, will you be inspired to do the less interesting bits like learning how to put a string back on and retune it!
Mark runs MK Guitar School full time and has been described as friendly, fun, motivational and easy going. He has been in many bands over the years as both a Guitarist and lead vocalist and has had his music considered for main stream advertising. As well as being an accomplished guitarist, Mark also plays the Piano and drums, both of which, again, he is self taught.
He will teach you not only the technical side of the guitar and being a guitarist, but also the practical side and it is the latter of these that will having you jamming along to your favourite CDs and writing your own music in no time!
MK Guitar School are pleased to offer all of our students the chance to rent an instrument from just £6 per week!
Why rent? Maybe you are brand new to learning and want to try some lessons before committing to buy your own instrument, maybe you want to try different styles of guitar before you decide what to buy or maybe you want to learn on something awesome - either way, we have a range of guitars that we can supply you with to help you along your way!
All rental packages include a professionally set up, great quality acoustic or electric guitar. You get to take the guitar home after every lesson so you'll always have something to practise on and if you decide to buy it, the rental you have already paid can be used to offset the cost of making it your own!
